AG INDUSTRY OFFERS NEW HEAD START TRAINING PROGRAM The Head Start Program offers students a training curriculum that prepares them for work at agricultural retail facilities. GOVERNOR QUINN'S TRADE MISSION TO MEXICO SEEKS INCREASE ILLINOIS AGRICULTURAL EXPORTS Mexico is Illinois' Third Largest Agricultural Customer Governor Pat Quinn is promoting Illinois agricultural exports during his April 3 - 6 trade mission to Mexico, seeking to convince the state's third largest agricultural customer to increase its purchases. IDOA AND AG INDUSTRY PARTNER TO PROVIDE WEB-BASED ANHYDROUS AMMONIA SAFETY TRAINING The department and Illinois Fertilizer and Chemical Association (IFCA) jointly provide training programs for employees of retail anhydrous ammonia facilities, who are required to be trained every three years. But to address the critical need to improve ammonia safety when farmers are handling the product, the department, IFCA, Illinois Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and Illinois Farm Bureau (IFB) collaborated to develop a detailed web- based training program for farmers. PROMOTE YOUR AGRIBUSINESS COMPANY In an ongoing effort to promote the Illinois food and agribusiness industry within the global marketplace, The Illinois Department of Agriculture (DOA)'s Bureau of Marketing has launched various promotional services through several regional and national expositions, promotions, seminars, and industry tours. In addition, the DOA maintains foreign offices in Hong Kong and Mexico to assist Illinois companies overseas. Illinois is also a member of the twelve-state Food Export Association-Midwest. By utilizing this private, non-profit association, DOA is positioned to increase international exports in addition to the state-sponsored Food Export activities. NURSERY PROGRAM NOW ON-LINE The nursery program inspection staff of the Illinois Department of Agriculture's Bureau of Environmental Programs inspects and certifies nearly 1,200 nurseries in Illinois each year.
